Lauren Stansell, CFP® earned an honors B.S. in Economics, summa cum laude, from Virginia Tech in May 2012. She earned her second honors bachelor’s degree in Finance, summa cum laude, from Virginia Tech’s CFP® Certification Education Track, a CFP Board-Registered program in December 2012. Lauren passed the CFP® exam in July 2014 and became a CFP® professional in February 2015. Lauren is currently pursuing her Master’s in Advanced Financial Planning with a concentration in Taxation through Golden Gate University.
Lauren co-founded the Financial Planning Association (FPA®) Student Chapter at Virginia Tech and was the first president of the organization. In the first year of its existence, the chapter grew to over 70 students, making it the largest student chapter in the country. She handed off leadership after the first year, but loved staying involved and helping the chapter advance. Lauren enjoys engaging with the next generation of financial planners; she served as the Co-Director of NexGen for the FPA of the National Capital Area and is now serving as the Director of Marketing Communications for the FPA of San Francisco. She is a graduate of FPA’s Residency Program and had the honor of serving as a Mentor to the Residents at the June 2019 Residency Program.
In her free time, Lauren enjoys spending time with family and friends (and her dog, Bella), hiking, exploring new cities and areas of her home city (San Francisco), horseback riding, trying new restaurants and recipes, and enjoying a jog along the San Francisco Bay.
Client Focus: As a Financial Planner, Lauren strives to empower Clients to pursue their Live Big lives, to be their “deep breath” in times of need, and to facilitate and participate in the meaningful relationships built. Lauren is also deeply involved in Yeske Buie’s recruiting, hiring, onboarding and training processes; always working to ensure Yeske Buie’s processes are efficient, effective, and up-to-date.
Current Update: Lauren is about to finish her second-to-last semester of graduate school and move into her final semester starting in late September! Lauren is pursuing her Masters in Advanced Financial Planning with a concentration in Taxation through Golden Gate University. Lauren has enjoyed bolstering her knowledge of the intricacies of income and estate taxes and learning more about deep communication and listening skills. She is excited for her two upcoming (final) graduate courses – Introduction to Financial Life Planning and the Capstone Cases course. She’s confident she will learn a lot of useful information and ideas to continue to improve and hone her skills as a financial planner.
It has been an amazing program. And, she’s excited to read a book just for fun come December 2019!
Lauren really enjoyed spending time with the Yeske Buie team in Boulder, CO for the recent company retreat. It is always rejuvenating to spend time with one another in nature (at Gold Lake) and in deep thought and reflection. Seeing the Gypsy Kings was the cherry on top!
Lauren and her husband, Daniel, are looking forward to a trip to Hawaii in September – to celebrate Lauren’s birthday, their second wedding anniversary, and check off Daniel’s 50th state.
