ALISHIA DuBOIS

FINANCIAL PLANNING RESIDENT

Alishia DuBois graduated from Virginia Tech in December of 2017. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Economic Management, with an option in Financial Planning, along with two minors in Business and Leadership. She was heavily involved in Virginia Tech’s Financial Planning Association student chapter, and was elected as the Vice President in her senior year. Alishia also was actively involved in her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, which raised over $36,000 in 2017 for the Women’s Resource Center of the New River Valley to help individuals and families impacted by domestic violence.

She spent her final two collegiate summers as an intern at Summit Financial Partners in Richmond, Virginia. She utilizes the wealth of information learned from these experiences throughout her work, and strives to cultivate her knowledge and understanding through continuous education.

In her free time, Alishia enjoys going to her local gym, traveling and experiencing new cultures, eating and attempting to learn how to cook (it is coming along but there is still a long way to go), and spending quality time with her wonderful family and friends. She wants to get back into occasionally figure skating when she can, as she started when she was four years old, and competed in synchronized figure skating competitions up until she left for college. She is looking forward to exploring (and dining her way through) Ballston, in Arlington, Virginia, where she currently lives, and the beautiful area of Washington, D.C.

Client Focus: Alishia approaches her work with Clients by viewing herself as part of a support system that works to help Clients achieve their goals, hopes and dreams. She focuses on fully understanding a Client’s Live Big® ideas and goals so she may better assist the planning team in the creation of their unique financial plan. She does this by deeply listening to each Client’s story with empathy and compassion.

Forming and nurturing lasting relationships is a value that Alishia holds close to her heart because she believes that when it is time for one to leave this world, it is the relationships, experiences, and memories that are left behind that mean the most.

Current Update: Between working and traveling for Yeske Buie’s annual retreat in Boulder, Colorado, attending the Far West Roundup Conference in Santa Cruz, California, and planning for a reunion trip with her long-time friends in Miami, Florida, Alishia has been on the move this summer and is enjoying every minute of it as the experiences and memories have been invaluable. She is also looking forward to the next few months – from celebrating yet another incredible year of life on her birthday in September, to football season starting back up again!
